Step by step to balance
Our complex metabolism in the fight against environmental toxins and medication
Due to increasing industrialization, the body is confronted daily with various foreign substances that can affect it. Chemical substances, car exhaust fumes, pesticides, toxins and heavy metals in food and groundwater are examples of substances to which we are exposed. Medicines are also foreign substances that the body must first metabolize before they can be excreted. Our metabolism is a sophisticated and complex system that can do just that.
Step by step to balance
Liver metabolism
The liver, kidneys, lungs, skin and lymph, the intestines and the blood perform the important task of excretion in the body. Water-soluble foreign substances can be excreted via the kidneys, whereas fat-soluble substances must be actively metabolized. This mainly takes place in the liver, which is the most important metabolic organ. As water-soluble substances, they are excreted via the urine or stool. Depending on age, lifestyle habits or medication, this “disposal system” may be impaired.

Nutrients for the body’s own balance
Many nutrients are involved in metabolic processes, which should be supplied to the body through a Healthy and balanced diet. Onions, broccoli, garlic, celery, artichokes and milk thistle, for example, are tried and tested foods that support the metabolism. Nuts, for example, contain a lot of Selenium, which protects the body’s cells from oxidative damage. In general, fresh and untreated vegetables, salads and fruit are preferable to foods such as convenience foods, fast food, high-carbohydrate and high-fat diets. Adequate amounts of fluids, especially water, ensure good blood circulation in the liver and kidneys and promote the elimination of metabolic products. Regular exercise activates the metabolism and thus also the elimination of foreign substances.
In order to maintain the body’s own balance, a good supply of nutrients is of great importance.
